What it means

AI maturity is more than technology

AI maturity is how ready you are to use AI in a way that creates real value. It lives in the technology, but just as much in how employees work, what routines you have in place, and the choices leadership has made.

It's a journey. Some have just started talking about AI in the leadership team; others have it woven into everyday work, and most are somewhere in between. The test places you on the ladder and points out what makes sense to tackle next.

The nine areas are built on what we have seen work when training employees at over a thousand companies. If you want to connect the results to a plan, AI strategy is a natural next step. To build skills, the training programs are the place to start.

  1. Cautious
  2. Engaged
  3. Advancing
  4. Pioneer

  • What is AI maturity?

AI maturity is how ready your organization is to use AI in a way that creates real value. It lives in the technology, but just as much in how employees work, what routines you have in place, and the choices leadership has made. A mature company uses AI where it makes a difference, with a clear eye on both the opportunities and the risks.

  • How do you measure AI maturity?

By looking at several areas at once, not just the technology. The test combines nine areas. We look at vision and strategy, leadership support, employee mindset, skills development, skill level, tools and licenses, practical use, security and guidelines, and impact and results. Each answer earns points, and the total places you at one of four levels, from Cautious to Pioneer.

  • What maturity levels are there?

Four. Cautious is early in the journey, with few clear steps taken. Engaged has started, often driven by individual champions. Advancing is working actively on several initiatives and starting to see results. Pioneer has broad adoption and clear impact and is out front. The test places you at one of the four.

  • What is the difference between AI maturity and digital maturity?

Digital maturity is about how well you have adopted digital tools and ways of working overall. AI maturity is narrower and newer, and concerns the ability to use AI, especially generative AI, in a way that delivers value. A company can be digitally mature and still be cautious when it comes to AI.

  • Who is the test for?

It's for anyone who wants an honest picture of where the organization stands on AI, whether you have just started or are already some way along. The report is especially useful as a basis for a leadership team decision or an investment in skills.

  • Does the test cost anything?

No. Both the test and the report are free, you commit to nothing, and we won't call you unless you ask us to.

  • What happens to our data?

We use them to produce and send your report and to follow up. They are handled according to our privacy policy and are never sold to third parties.
